Marco Travel was the first travel agency in the Turks and Caicos Islands as well as the first IATA approved agency. It opened in 1981 and has played a pivotal role in the development of tourism within the islands.
The first International airport didn't open until 1984 and Chloe helped bring the first charter flight from Canada to Providenciales, marking the beginning of the island's tourism industry as we know it today.
Marco Travel was also the American Express office for the Turks and Caicos Islands for 15 years.
Today Marco Travel continues to lead as a travel and tourism advocate for the TCI and has been awarded several Achievements in the tourism world.
Over the years "we have formed a team of avid and passionate travellers and we hope to inspire people to venture out and explore the world."
Marco Travel's subsidiary company Turtle Tours has also been up and running since the early 1980's and acts as ground representation for such tour operators as AirCanada Vacations, Kuoni Travel, and Viaggidea amongst others.
Acheivements in the Travel Industry:
  •  American Express 1995 and 1996 Latin America/Caribbean ,  highest accomplishment volume
  • Osprey Award for best tour operator 2005 TCI government,
  •  Air Jamaica Express Chairman Award for highest sales 2001,

Our dynamic team has travelled 6 continents extensively (still haven't made it to antartica!) and between us we are fluent in English, French, Spanish and  Creole.
 Chloe Zimmermann
Born in Casablanca, Morocco, and raised both there and in France, Chloe has been a resident of the Turks and Caicos for the past 37 years; when in 1979 she found her ‘perfect beach’ on the yet undeveloped island of Providenciales.
An avid diver, she fell in love with the islands and decided to stay. Having previously worked for Air France and Icelandair, Chloe opened the country’s first travel agency (Marco Travel) and tourism company (Turtle Tours)  in 1980 continuing a long family tradition in the airline industry. Marco Travel; one of the islands longest running companies is now celebrating over 36 years in business!

Chloe has a passion for the Turks and Caicos Islands and was involved in developing the first Hotel and Tourism association, brought in the first charter plane from Canada and has travelled throughout the archipelago. Her long-standing place within the community (she was even a Geography and Algebra teacher at the Island Princess High School for several years) means that Chloe has friends and contacts throughout the TCI.

Having extensively travelled 5 of the 7 continents Chloe is a wealth of information and always willing to share tales of her experiences in over 50 countries.
She  speaks French, English and Spanish fluently
Chloe is the Owner/Manager of Marco Travel and Turtle Tours as well as the co-founder of Caicu Naniki
Darnelle Johnson
Darnelle was born in Grand Turk and raised in North Caicos (her father’s home island). Her mother is from Salt Cay making Darnellle a real child of the islands.
Darnelle joined the Marco Travel team 11 years ago at which time she was already in the airline industry working for American Airlines at the Providenciales International Airport.
For the first 4 years she worked as a travel consultant, specializing in worldwide airline ticketing, cruise sales, car rentals and hotel bookings. She was also trained in customer care via American Express.
But all that wasn’t enough and in recent years Darnelle has fulfilled her goal of becoming the manager of Turtle Tours Ltd our DSM parent company. Turtle Tours is a destination service and represents some of the world’s leading tour operators here in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Her role includes airport meet and greets, hotel/resort transfers, on-location welcome briefings, airport supervision and crisis control in the event of delayed flights etc.
Darnelle excels at this.
Darnelle is the Turtle Tours Manager as well as a trained travel agent

She is highly trained in airline reservations, hotels and car bookings as well as specializing in cruise reservations.
Before joining Marco Travel she worked as an airport checking and reservation agent for American Airlines at the Providenciales International Airport.

Alizee quite literally grew up in Marco Travel.
Born and raised in the Turks and Caicos, Alizee is a passionate adventurer, writer, photographer and illustrator and had a great (though challenging) time designing this site.
An avid traveller, she has lived in 6 countries over the past decade and is currently living in the Netherlands. Although a Dive Instructor and English Teacher by training Alizee is currently (kind of) enjoying the challenge of surviving off freelance work. Her 'jobs' include online translation, dog-walking, teaching English on Skype, illustration work and logo design and of course working with Marco Travel.
Alizee speaks English, French and Spanish fluently and can often be found  wandering the streets looking for interesting bicycles to photograph.
Justin is resident travel writer and history guru. Having grown up with parents from both the UK and US, he has been travelling since he was 5 months old. He is well versed in the countries and cultures of Asia and Africa, and has an avid love of writing, photography, cooking, rock climbing, snorkelling and correct use of English grammar.

When not exploring new places (or pining for them), Justin can be found finishing his MA in Archaeology, perusing the stacks in a local bookshop, or searching for best street food on offer.
